Johnson City Mentor Program

Mentor

Johnson City, NY

A mentor program, partnering Binghamton University and Johnson City Middle School, to provide students with support and guidance.

  • Counseled students through difficult social situations with their peers.

  • Assisted students in developing positive study habits to improve their test and homework grades.

  • Taught students transferable skills such as organization techniques and effective communication.

Generative Community Institute

(now The Generative Culture Research Initiative)

Community Outreach Intern

Binghamton, NY

A program researching the "effects of Life Writing on the well-being of various populations" in "low-income urban and rural communities across the country" and training individuals to be Life Writing facilitators.

  • Collaborated with the director to determine the organization of the site’s text and photographs.

  • Designed web pages and participant surveys for the institute to ensure the progress of the program.

  • Contacted members of the Institute for upcoming events, research, and updates regarding their life stories.
